Better Portland

Redefining a platform for local Portland businesses.

  • Better Portland approached us to reimagine their brand after several key changes, notably the appointment of new Executive Director Stephen Green. Known for his visionary leadership, Stephen sought to position the organization for growth and greater community impact. However, Better Portland's messaging lacked clarity, and its name, "Business for a Better Portland," was difficult to pronounce and remember, limiting engagement and support.

  • We led a comprehensive rebrand, starting from the core: name, mission, vision, values, tone, visual identity, and website. Through close collaboration with the board and stakeholders, we refined the brand to ensure it resonated with their goals. Our efforts brought clarity, empowering the board to confidently communicate the organization's purpose. The new branding was designed to be memorable, engaging, and reflective of Better Portland's renewed focus on growth and positive community change.

  • I joined the project after the logo, colors, and typography were finalized to create a graphic treatment that would distinguish the brand. I designed a collaged image style that not only leveraged bold brand colors and referenced iconic Portland landmarks but also ensured functionality across web assets. Additionally, I was responsible for designing and developing the new website, focusing on showcasing the organization’s elevated positioning and providing easy access to business resources.
